· Consultive Directive - This is the least effective method of coaching and the least desired way to achieve business results. Through consultive direction, a client will consult a coach on an issue or challenge, without considering any solutions to overcome it. Because they have been consulted on the issue, the coach will identify potential downfalls for the client and be forced to direct them to act in a certain way to achieve a positive outcome. In this instance, the client will not learn to make strategic decisions, use their own initiative or overcome challenges from their own experiences.
